Marlton, NJ – January 29, 2008 – As part of its initiative to transform the delivery of healthcare and to improve access to healthcare services, Virtua Health is bringing a major Health and Wellness Center to Washington Township. "This is an extension of the plan we recently announced in Voorhees," says Richard P. Miller, President and CEO of Virtua Health. "Our plan is to make health and wellness services more accessible and convenient to patients. This Center will be one in a network of three, the second located in Voorhees alongside our new digital hospital, and the third in Moorestown." "Gloucester County is one of the fastest growing communities in the state," says Miller. "We are excited to bring its residents new options in healthcare services, as well as hundreds of new job opportunities. Our new Health and Wellness Centers represent a new era in health care where the focus is not only on helping people return to good health, but working to prevent illness." The Virtua Health and Wellness Center will include an Urgent Care Center that provides timely and convenient treatment of minor, unexpected injuries and illnesses; a High-Risk Pregnancy Center which offers the services of world-class maternal-fetal medicine specialists to care for women with high-risk pregnancies, and a Metabolic Center that provides an outpatient diabetes management program accredited by the American Diabetes Association. It will also offer physical and occupational therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, radiation oncology, diagnostic radiology and women’s breast imaging services such as mammography and ultrasounds. Visitors can also exercise at the Fitness Center, relax with a massage at the Med Spa and enjoy a heart-healthy meal in the café. Many of the area’s top specialists will have offices in the Virtua Health and Wellness Center and will provide services in cardiology, endocrinology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, otolaryngology, oncology, radiology and a full compliment of surgical specialties. Virtua worked closely with local physicians and the township government to design programs and services that best meet the needs of the community. "Gloucester County residents have been selecting Virtua for their healthcare for decades," says Adrienne Kirby, chief operating officer for ambulatory services and programs of excellence. "Now Virtua is making that choice easier by bringing a major healthcare destination site to Gloucester County. The center will provide the community with access to Virtua’s expertise and customer-focused care. With onsite physician offices, diagnostic testing, and outpatient surgery, visitors can see their doctors and undergo tests or procedures without ever leaving the Center." Virtua’s new facility in Gloucester County will sit on approximately 40 acres located on Hurffville-Crosskeys Road, a short distance from the Fries Mill Road intersection. The $31-million dollar project will result in a nearly 225,000 square-foot facility. The facility is scheduled for completion in 2009. |
